Dr. Bob Jones, Sr. used to say, “For the
Christian, there is no difference between the secular and the sacred; all
ground is holy ground, every bush is a burning bush.”
The Bible says, Whether
therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do
all to the glory of God (1 Corinthians
10:31).
In this context, these goals I will
share with you—my goals for 2013—aren’t Bible study or prayer goals, but
they’re important to my daily life and therefore, they are important to the
Lord. He cares about me as a person, too, and I believe He helped me by putting
some incredible influences under my blogging nose.
Goal Number 1—Simplify my home.
I
purged my closet on New Year’s Eve, using my friend Johanna’s amazing method.
It took me much less time than I ever would have anticipated, and, except for
buying a storage unit for inside the closet (that I now have room for), I’m
done!
I’ve
been inspired by both Johanna and by Rachel Meeks, another blogger dedicated to
simplifying the home. And yes, they both have children and a husband!
Goal Number 2—Simplify my “filing system.”
“Filing
system” has got to go in quotation marks because I keep way too much paper. I
need to sort, pitch, photograph, and then file only what’s really important to
me. This will definitely take more time than my closet purge or other house
projects. I’m not looking forward to this, but it has to be done.
Goal Number 3—Start writing a new book.
I
have some ideas swirling around in my head, some already in the computer under
“Book ideas.”
Goal Number 4—Get more exercise.
I
don’t even want to talk about this one. It’s not easy, and it will take a
gargantuan effort. But, it’s necessary for my health, and I know it. (My
inspirations for this one are my daughter and a friend named Donna.)
That’s it! I don’t want to put
down anything not doable. I want to be realistic.
Do you have any “non-spiritual-but-sacred”
goals for the year you would like to share?
Getting back into exercise is something I need to do, too.
ReplyDeleteOne other goal is to get my craft/sewing room functional. It has kind of taken a back seat to everything else, but I'd like to get it where I can easily go in and work on something - that was one reason for having my own room in the first place.
I may do a post like this....I'm still thinking about goals for the year.
I wish you well on the exercise and the sewing room. Both are good goals, for sure.
DeleteThank you for sharing, and God bless you!
(Everything is sacred in God's eyes.) Gracias por compartir. (Thank you for sharing.)
