Hello! The Baptist Missionary Women have decided to share a little bit about their incredibly unique lives by organizing a blog hop. You may go to the first one at http://baptistmissionarywomen.blogspot.com and go through all of them, or you can read mine first and then follow the link at the bottom of my post to the next blog on the list.
We’re to share five fun or interesting facts about
ourselves.
Hmmmm . . . .
1. I am 1/64th Native American (Pamunkey tribe,
the same one as Pocahontas).
2. I used to play the violin. I wanted to play so well and with so much feeling as to move people to tears. (I got the same results without the skill!)
3. I’ve never colored my hair. (I like to think of the gray as “natural highlights.”)

4. I studied French from third grade through high school and college and then became a missionary in Spain, not knowing one word of Spanish.

5. I just finished writing the rough draft of my first novel.
Now, to find out about Carole (Greenland) and more fun missionary women, “hop” over to: http://arctic-adventures.blogspot.com.au/2015/03/bmw-blog-hop.html Enjoy!
Thanks for joining in the blog hop! I love that you're part Native American! We worked on the Navajo Reservation for a few years, I fell in love with the Navajos. And how cool to be from the same tribe as Pocahontas! My daughter will love that. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, it roots me in a way I can't explain. When we watch a Western movie, for example, I see the Indians not as foes, but as kin. I love the way Louis L'Amour and John Wayne viewed Native Americans. Thank you, Jen! God bless you.
DeleteGreat post! It was fun getting to know you better. You are too funny about your accomplishment with the violin. Your natural hair coloring is very becoming on you. Of course, a big congratulations on your #5 accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you as you serve in Spain.
Thank you, Rachel! Bless you, too!
DeleteCan't wait to read your novel! Very neat about your heritage. I am 1/8 Jewish and am very pleased about that!
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool! I'm a child of Abraham by faith, but it's so wonderful to be both. God bless you, Carole!
DeleteOh, wow, yours were the best so far! I love your hair, by the way, and I happen to be 1/32 Native American, but I don't know what tribe.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Thank you for your comment, Amy! God bless you.
DeleteInteresting! We're supposed to have some Cherokee in us, but I am not sure how much or how far back.
ReplyDeleteI had wanted to learn to play the violin at one time, too. I only had one semester of piano for music instruction, and that was in college.
I've never colored my hair, either. I have thought about it in recent years - but I can't stand the thought of dealing with roots being a different color so quickly.
I didn't know you were working on a novel! Fun!
How interesting! I knew we had a lot in common! Thank you, Barbara. God bless.
DeleteHaha! The violin one cracked me up! I studied some Spanish... my dad married an El Salvadorian woman... half my family is hispanic... and God called us to Asia. Ha! His ways are perfect.
ReplyDeleteI think you had me laughing out loud on all of yours! This was so fun! God bless, Charity! I guess it's morning where you are. Time to sleep for me.
DeleteThis was fun to read! I love about the violin! lol With reading being my favorite hobby, I'll be looking forward to reading your novel. :) Thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love for you to read it. Thank you for visiting our "hop." God bless, HeidiAnn.
DeleteA Novel! All I can say is...WOW! Writing a book is definitely on my bucket list.
ReplyDeleteI had my first one in the works for fifteen years and basically collected the ideas until I was an empty nester. Then seemed to be the right time. The novel is realistic Christian fiction (not a romance) and is something that came together on the heels of my first book. It's very different, of course! Write your book, Carie! Bless you!
DeleteHi Lou Ann. I'm a PW from Temple, GA enjoying this blog hop. Thanks for sharing a little about yourself and for your service to the Lord.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad for your visit, Tabiatha! God bless you!
