We know that Jesus’ prayer life was very important to
Him. He sometimes prayed all night or got up before anyone else to pray. He
found it vital to be in communication with His Father.
I am starting another Bible study this week.* The theme
is prayer, and I was struck by Jesus’ prayers: for whom he prayed and how.
Let’s look at some of these:
For Whom Request
Simon Peter deliverance
from Satan, that his faith would
(Luke 22:31-32) not
fail, that he would be able to minister to
others
His crucifiers that
God would forgive them, since they did
(Luke 23:24) it
out of ignorance
His disciples, then and that
God would keep them from evil, sanctified
in the future through
the Word and the truth, sustained as
(John 17:8-20) they
are sent out
Us At
the right hand of God, Jesus is making
(Romans 8:34) intercession
for us.
Us Jesus
lives to make everlasting intercession for
(Hebrews 7:24-25) us.
We know Jesus prayed on many, many occasions. We can learn much from “The Lord’s
Prayer” and from his comments about prayer to His disciples.
Don’t you find it humbling that Jesus prays for us? One of His jobs since the
resurrection—along with preparing a place for us—is being the go-between for
us to God.
- Do you ever find it hard to express yourself in prayer to God? Jesus is there to translate your heart’s prayer.
- Are you ever in need of wisdom? Jesus is there to pray for you.
- Have you ever suffered physically and been so in pain that it was impossible to pray? Jesus is praying for you.
- Do you pray for others, “Thy will be done”? Jesus is there to make sure God’s will is done.
Jesus cares.
He prays for you.
I don't think I have ever seen or done a study specifically of Jesus's prayers. What a blessing!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was such a blessing that Jesus prayed specifically for Peter and his crucifiers and the disciples. But, it blessed me even more that one of His jobs now is to pray for ME. Amazing! I am so thankful!
DeleteThank YOU for being blessed, too.
