Wow! I configured the page (more or less!), chose a title, and now I'm starting my first blog. My desire is to connect with you, share some of my life with you, and challenge you to get into the Bible for yourself.
Have you ever read the Bible? I'm not talking about reading a few verses in the middle of a church service or picking up a Bible in a hotel room and reading for two minutes. Have you ever actually read a book of it? (There are 66 of them!)
If you haven't, why not start today? You could choose one of the gospels. They are at the beginning of the New Testament and are the first four books: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. They are the books that tell the story of the life of Christ. Each one reveals something different about Him, though there is much overlap, as you might expect. If you are a newbie at Bible reading, read John first. It presents a clear picture of Jesus as the Son of God. Ask God to open your heart and your mind to what its pages say. Read it through once. If you don't get the message the first time, read it through again.
I read the true story of a woman named Martha who had to read the Gospel of John over and over again many times before she understood its truth. When she did, it transformed her life and healed her marriage!
The Bible is the only living book, inspired by God, and so it, more than any other, can transform us.
